Assist Resettlement and Renaissance (Assist RR, UK) donated 1000 Intra Ocular Lenses (IOLs) towards 1129 free cataract surgeries that were carried out at the Sri Lanka National Eye Hospital (NEH) on 21/03 & 22/03. This was organised and coordinated by the College of Ophthalmologists of Sri Lanka with the support of NEH and many other organisations. Assist RR spoke to many patients who expressed their happiness and gratitude. As can be seen from the photos below, their smiles tell a thousand stories.
Surgeons who performed the surgeries are: DR JAYASIRI D DIAS, DR KAPILA BANDUTHILAKA, DR N. NIROSHAN, DR PASINDU THILAKARATHNE, DR PRASAD PATHIRANA, DR K.R. DAYAWANSA, DR GIHAN THENUWARA, DR S SUJEEVAN, DR SALVIN KARAHINARACHCHIGE, DR JAYAN DE SILVA, DR AYASMANTHA PEIRIS, and DR DHANUSHKA GAMAGE. Sincere gratitude to all those, who were involved in this camp. Hon Minister of Health, Dr Nalinda Jayatissa, graced the occasion and handed over certificates of appreciation to those who contributed to the success of this camp.
