Another Cataract Surgery Camp, this time in Matara

A great Sinhala surgeon called Dr Jeyasiri Dias, whose native place is Matara and has been serving people of Batticaloa for a number of years, has been helping the needy and vulnerable people of North and East by carrying out 600 free cataract surgeries in surgery camps organised by Assist RR in the North and East. This teaches us that charity should not have any boundaries and it should be beyond race, religion, colour, language, etc. Friends of Assist RR, Engineers Sriskandarajah from Vavuniya and Henry Amalaraj from Kalmunai volunteered to sponsor a free surgery camp for 150 needy patients in Matara. This camp took place on 22/10/14, on Deepavali day. Sri & Henry attended the ceremony on this day, although it was Deepavali. Well done friends and keep up your good work. The people of Matara were very appreciative of the assistance provided by Sri & Henry. Matara doctors also promised to visit North & East to help the needy in any way they can. The eye doctor at Matara has already carried out a cataract surgery camp in Kilinochchi.
